Two quotes can look alike and protect you very differently. Enter up to four quotes to see them side by side: what each one costs per month, exactly where the coverage differs, and what each policy would pay in a few realistic situations.
Copy each number from the quote or the coverage page the company sends you. Two example quotes are filled in so you can see how it works. Type over them, or start with blank quotes.
If a quote shows a number that is not in a menu, pick the closest one. Can’t find a number at all? Our free What to Ask Your Insurance Agent sheet lists every one this tool uses.
Shaded rows are where the quotes are not the same. When one quote costs less, the reason is often in one of those rows.
Not the same across your quotes
Limits like “$30k / $65k” are hard to picture. Pick a situation to see what each policy would pay and what would be left for you. The dollar amounts are examples, so change them to fit your own situation.
A higher deductible lowers the price but leaves more for you to pay on each claim. Ask a company to price the same policy at two deductibles, then enter both here to see how long the savings take to add up to the difference.
A one-page sheet of questions that gets you quotes you can actually compare: the same limits, the same deductibles, the same billing period, and every fee in writing.
Insurance is one part of what a car really costs. The Car Ownership Cost Calculator adds it to fuel, maintenance and depreciation, and we can help you with the rest of the purchase.
